Discovery 102[]
1999—2000[]
The service commenced as Discovery 102 in 1999. They chose this name as Dundee was called "The Gateway to the land of Discovery". However, Discovery Communications threatened to sue the service over copyright issues.
Wave 102[]
2000—2004[]
The service was bought by The Wireless Group during the copyright issues. As a result, they decided to change the name, using one which they already operated in two other areas - 'Wave'.
2004—2017[]
2017—2018[]
In January 2017, the service expanded when it took over the Perth licence held by Heartland Radio.
Wave FM[]
2018—2020[]
Wave 102 rebranded to Wave FM after DC Thomson bought the station over from New Wave Media in 2018. Wave FM closed in June 2020 with the station being replaced by Pure Radio Scotland.
