The drawing in the logo is a stylized portrait of chain founder Dave Thomas' daughter, Melinda Lou "Wendy" Thomas. This is the first logo that was only used for the first restaurant.

Second logo, similar to the first one, but added the slogan "Quality is our recipe". Introduced after opening the second restaurant, which introduced the drive-thru pick-up window.

1972–1976[]

Wendy's 1972

In 1972, the portrait of Wendy was redrawn for the first time with flat colors and the font for the tagline "Old Fashioned Hamburgers" was modified. The swirls became detached from the portrait of Wendy (but still remained attached for use on signage). However, signage still displayed the illustration from the first two logos.

1976-1983[]

Wendy's 1976

In 1976, the logo was given a yellow background for the outside and a red beveled rectangle was given for the inside. The words "Old Fashioned" became re-aligned into the center. It is still used at a small number of locations, regardless of design updates.

1983–2013[]

Wendy's logo

The fifth and longest-lived Wendy's logo debuted in 1983 in the United States and expanded into Canada the next year. The font for the tagline "Old Fashioned Hamburgers" was modified again. Sometimes, especially in this logo's later years, the Wendy portrait would use proper skin tone. This logo is still used at some old locations.

2007–2013[]

Wendyslogo2007

The shorthand logo without the "Old Fashioned Hamburgers" tagline, used as the secondary logo. Also, proper skin-tone was always used for the Wendy Portrait. This logo is still used at some locations.

2013–present[]

Wendy's

An entirely new logo featuring a completely redrawn Wendy and a new script wordmark was unveiled in October 2012 and fully introduced in 2013.
