The Wikimedia Foundation received a cease-and-desist letter from the World Trade Organization to stop the use of the former logo because Wikivoyage's now-former logo was too similar to WTO's. As a result, the Wikimedia Foundation hosted a contest for a new logo. The winner of that contest was announced on August 31, 2013, and the above logo became the main logo for Wikivoyage.
