Windows Media Player 1

This logo was used for Windows Media Player 1 to 3 on Windows 3.1x, Windows NT 3.1 and Windows NT 3.5x.

Windows Media Player 4-6[]

This icon was used for Windows Media Player 4 to 6 on Windows 3.1x, Windows NT 3.1, Windows NT 3.5x, Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98, Windows 98 SE and Windows 2000. A similar modernized version of the logo was created for an open source multimedia player called Media Player Classic.

Windows Media Player 7[]

This logo was used for Windows Media Player 7 on Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 98, Windows 98 SE, Windows 2000 and Windows ME.

This logo was used for Windows Media Player 10 and 11 on Windows XP and beta builds of Windows Longhorn and Windows Vista.

This logo (albeit a colored version) was used for Windows Media Player 11 on beta builds of Windows Vista.

2007–2009[]

This logo was used for Windows Media Player 11 on Windows Vista. Since the last logo, the proportions have been modified, the lighting altered, and the play button no longer recessed.

Windows Media Player 12/Windows Media Player Legacy[]

This logo is used for Windows Media Player 12 on Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 and Windows 11. It is very similar to the 2007 logo, but with lighter colors.

Although Windows Media Player is now deprecated in favor of the new Media Player (formerly Groove Music) and Movies & TV app, it was still present in the Windows Accessories folder in Windows 8 and 10, and Windows Tools app on Windows 11.

Since Windows 11 22H2, Windows Media Player 12 is now known as Windows Media Player Legacy.
