In E3 2019, Xbox announced that they would be creating a studio for Age of Empires, that would be overseeing development of the franchise by Studios that include Relic Entertainment, Forgotten Empires, and Tantalus Media, to ensure that the franchise would be in the right direction. The final name of the studio wasn't announced until November 2019, as World's Edge, but the final logo wouldn't be unveiled until 2020.
