Willing Willie premiered on October 23, 2010, five months after Willie Revillame left from hosting Wowowee of TV5's rival network ABS-CBN on May 5 that same year and three months after the said show ended on July 30, and the show ended on April 9, 2011. On May 9, 2011, Cristy Fermin reported on Juicy! Express that the primetime variety-game show would change its name to Wil Time Bigtime on May 14, 2011, occupying the same format and same timeslot.
