XHAJ-TV started broadcasting on VHF channel 6 on or around April 1965. Guillermo González Camarena's last act alive was the inspection of its transmitter and ended up dying in a car accident on April 18. Since the beginning, the station was a relay of XHGC.

In 1987, XHAJ and XEX began broadcasting the TV Matutina network, renamed Supercadena 8 in 1990.
