The codename Project Scarlett and the existence of the new console(s) were unveiled to the public in 2017, but the systems (plus the codename itself) was in development/existence since 2016. Until mid 2019, the Project Scarlett had no logo.

On June 9, 2019, Microsoft unveiled the plans of their upcoming console under the codename Project Scarlett.
